Posted by Nick on January 13, 2008

You may recognize Liverpool, England as the home of the infamous Beatles. But for 2008 you should get to know it as a Capital of Culture.

Things on your itinerary list for a visit should include a trip the Albert Dock to learn about the city’s past at the Merseyside Maritime. For museums, check out the Tate Liverpool, which is Britain’s largest modern art gallery outside London, and the Walker Art Gallery, which is a Victorian treasure house stuffed with paintings by the Pre-Raphaelites.

A popular place to stay is Liverpool’s waterfront Malmaison Hotel. Or if you are a Beatle’s fan you will want to check out the Beatles-themed Hard Day’s Night Hotel that is set to open in February 2008.

Liverpool is located a little over two hours from London by train. If you are flying, try landing at nearby Manchester Airport for the closest airport to Liverpool.
