Amsterdam to be World Book Capital 2008

April 27, 2008 · Filed Under Europe, Travel news

Amsterdam is set to be the World Book Capital for 2008. The year long title (celebration?) lasts from April 23, 2008 to April 22, 2009.

The title is granted by UNESCO. This just reaffirms Amsterdam’s international reputation as a place of refuge for free speech and the written word.

There will be many events going on as a result of this. The World Book Market is one to note. You can find it in Amsterdam on May 18, 2008.

For more info on this and other World Book Capital festivities and news, check out the Amsterdam World Book Capital website.
