ComFest, otherwise known as the Community Festival, kicks off at noon tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio’s Goodale Park. This is in the Short North area and is easily accessible from I-670 and 315. The festival is known as the largest free, non-corporate urban music and arts festival in the United States.
ComFest runs from June 27 through June 29, 2008. Festivities start at noon tomorrow. You can enjoy six stages featuring local bands, live arts and cultural performers, and political activists. There is also a street fair that offers up local food vendors, artists and craftspeople.
Beer from The Columbus Brewing Company is sold at ComFest in large colorful mugs to offset the cost of the festival itself and to raise money for community projects and grants. All tips from the beer booths go to homeless shelters. ComFest’s “cause” for 2008 is The Ohio Healthy Families Act, which supports a grass-roots campaign to put an initiative on the ballot for the fall, general election, requiring employers to provide mandatory sick days for their employees.
The featured local artists for 2008 are Happy Chichester and Shaun Booker. Music reigns from Noon until 11 P.M. Friday and Saturday, and Noon until 9 P.M. on Sunday. Guest National Artists are Michelle Shocked and Black 47.
For more info, including a show schedule, visit ComFest.com today.

If you are gearing up for a big summer vacation and plan on taking lots of pics you should be sure that you know how to format your xD card. While it would be unfortunate, something could happen to your card that would make it unreadable.
Card not initialized.
That is the error message you will get when your xD card needs to be formatted. Some people say that you can format the card while it is in the computer. I don’t know about that. But you can format it in your camera! Most xD cards are used with Olympus and Fuji camera.
Here are some directions from the Fuji S5100 user manual:
1. Turn the camera on (to Photography Mode, not Playback Mode).
2. Press the Menu/OK button.
3. Move left or right until you reach the Option Menu.
4. Move up to SET-UP and press the Menu/OK button.
5. There are 4 option screens. The Format option is in screen number 1, so you should see it immediately.
6. Move down to Format and then either move right or press Menu/OK.
