San Franciso’s Mision San Francisco de Asis, or Mission Dolores
Posted by Nick on July 11, 2008
If you find yourself in San Francisco and want to see something a little less t0uristy and a bit more historical then the Mision San Francisco de Asis is what you are looking for. Although you will more than likely hear it referred to as simply Mission Dolores.
The Mission Dolores was constructed back in 1776 and has managed to survive two major earthquakes and is still in tact. In fact, it is San Francisco’s oldest intact building. There are no official tours, but you can wander about on your own. Or you can even attend mass service. Mission Dolores does accept donations as well.
The Mission Dolores Basilica is located at the intersection of 16th and Dolores Street. For more info, check out www.missiondolores.org.
