Free Walking Tours of San Francisco

It is no secret that San Francisco is an expensive city. But there are free things that you can do. In fact, there are several free walking tours that you can take in San Francisco. Check out sfcityguides.org for complete info.
You can find tours on every thing from Gold Rush tours to Ghost Walks. Keep in mind though that not all tours are offered year round. So check out the website for a schedule.
While the tours are free, do remember to tip your tour guide at the end of the tour!
