Disney for free on your birthday!

Posted by Nick on September 24, 2008

Do you enjoy going to a Disney theme park by yourself on your birthday? If so, I have good news for you. For 2009 you can get into one of the theme parks at Disney World or at Disneyland in California for free on your birthday.

You will need to have a valid ID including proof of birth date to get a free ticket on that day. Note that this does not start until 2009!

And of course you don’t have to go alone! But only the birthday peeps get in for free – and it has to actually be ON your birthday.

More info from the Orlando Sentinel.

Anxiety-detecting machines at an airport security checkpoint near you?

Posted by Nick on September 23, 2008

suck it TSA!!

In their quest to continually scare the living daylights out us, the Transportation Security Administration is working on a new way of screening people at security checkpoints in airports.

An anxiety-detecting machine!

Yes, you nervous flyer, you just might get mistaken for a terrorist!

Supposedly we are years away from a such a thing being a reality in US airports. But it still makes for one scary bedtime story!

Here’s hoping those things never see the light of day in a US airport!

Protect your laptop – Belkin Laptop Alarm Lock

Posted by Nick on September 21, 2008

If you are traveling with a laptop the last thing that you want to happen is for it to get stolen. Of course, sometimes you have to leave your laptop in your hotel room – you can’t go skiing with a laptop! So, you need a little piece of mind. That is where the Belkin USB Laptop Security Alarm comes into play.

I have been looking for something inexpensive to give me a little piece of mind and thwart any would-be thieves. The Belkin Laptop Alarm Lock seems to be just what I have been looking for. It’s bright orange color should be enough to stop a thief that is worried about getting noticed. But if that doesn’t do the trick then the alarm should cover it.

Here’s how it works. The alarm plugs into any available USB port on your computer. It has a cable to be wrapped around a secure object so that you can effectively anchor your computer. Now, if a thief tries to cut or disconnect the cable an alarm sounds. You set and turn off the alarm with an activation key. You can even lengthen the cable with a standard USB extension cable.

You can get this from Amazon, but right now Fry’s has the best price at only $10!
