If you are looking for some eco-friendly lodging you might want to look for a yurt hotel at your destination. If you are not familiar with yurts, a picture of one is below.

image: The Hoopoe Yurt Hotel
Basically, a yurt is kind of like a tent, only it is covered and usually has some electricity. Most yurt hotels have shared bath houses, but some have private bath huts next to your yurt. Just do not be surprised by the composting toilet!
Here are some places where you can find yurt hotels:
- Big Sur, California – Treebones Resort
- The Ardèche, France – Canvaschic
- Baja California, Mexico – Las Animas
- Cornwall, England – Yurtworks
- Lycia, Turkey – Hurzur Vadisi
- Andaluca, Spain – Hoopoe Yurt Hotel

One of the most nerve wrecking parts of taking a trip or vacation is blindly booking a hotel. Sure, you can read reviews on places like Trip Advisor but there still is that nagging feeling that you will not get what you are expecting.
Well, someone has tackled this problem by offering up video guides of hotel in major cities around the world. You can the hotel videoguide at TVtrip.com.
They have only recently started filming hotels in the United States. However, if you are traveling to a major city you still might find what you are looking for. As a bonus they also offer up some Google map info for each hotel as well as average rates for rooms.
The site is free and definitely worth a try in my opinion.
