5 Amenities To Look For In A Hostel

game room at hostelBudget-minded travelers looking for a safe, affordable trip frequently flock to hostels for their journeys. Hostels offer convenient and inexpensive options for cost-conscious globetrotters, while still providing a safe spot for visitors. However, these savings are sometimes easy to notice by the lack of amenities. Hostels are still seen by some travelers as dorm rooms for travelers, with some even featuring shared showers and rooms for guests.

This isn’t always the case, nor should it be. Affordable accommodations can still offer top-notch amenities for travelers to enjoy as they experience all the world has to offer. Hostels with great amenities still offer visitors a comfortable stay without breaking the bank, leaving their guests with more money to enjoy the sights and sounds of their destination.

Here are five amenities travelers should look for in a hostel:

1. Private Rooms

For many travelers, hostels conjure an image of crowded, shared rooms with shared bathrooms among a large group of strangers; this isn’t always the case. For a slight increase in cost, though still lower than most hotel rooms, many hostels are now offering private rooms and bathrooms for travelers. This offers privacy for travelers under budget. This is a great amenity for families looking to see the world on a budget.

2. Group Activities

Many travelers choose hostels not only for the savings but to enjoy the company of other travelers. Solo travelers meet others on their journeys and build a sense of camaraderie during their travels. Hostels help facilitate these new friendships and sense of family by having group activities for their guests to enjoy. Travelers staying at hostels are offered certain amenities, such as group tours and outings for guests. These activities bring people from across the world, and throughout all different cultures, together. This is a great experience for solo travelers and helps facilitate friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Take advantage of opportunities like these during your stay if you can.

3. Table Games

Group activities for guests are great, but that’s not all hostels can provide for their visitors. Having activities available for guests on-site, such as foosball and pool tables, is a great way for hostels to ensure everyone enjoys their stay while bringing travelers together in a safe, relaxing environment. Nightlife tours and group outings aren’t for everyone, but many guests still want a chance to mix and mingle with their fellow travelers. Through on-site activities, such as table games, guests have more opportunities to interact with their fellow travelers without loud bars and clubs or long walking tours. This is just another way for you to interact with the other guests and make friends during your stay.

4. Home-Cooked Meals

For hostel-goers on longer trips, homesickness can begin to set in. This, along with a desire to save money, has many travelers looking for ways to save money on food costs during their trip. Luckily, if you fall into this category during your trip, an amenity frequently offered to guests are home-cooked meals. This offers you and other guests the chance to not only save money on meals but also to experience part of the culture through meals and camaraderie in the comfort of the hostel.

5. Free, Reliable Wi-fi

We now live in a time where everyone wants to be connected to the rest of the world, no matter where they are. However, international travelers are also wary of outrageous fees for using their data in foreign countries. Hostels frequently offer free wi-fi to guests as a way to ensure they can remain connected to family and friends back home. This isn’t a new amenity and is a simple one to provide. However, reliability and speed are still necessary for guests. Chain hotels still struggle to get this simple amenity right. Hostels, however, often provide higher quality internet access for their guests for no additional cost, keeping visitors connected throughout their stay.

Canton, Ohio Attractions To Energize Your Vacation Planning

If you’re not familiar with Canton, Ohio, then you likely don’t know it’s home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There are many other attractions in this city, too. I had heard of Canton, but I wasn’t familiar with it being the home of the Hall of Fame for the NFL. The McKinley Presidential Library and Museum is also there. Which one would you visit first?

I’d have to visit both, but I think I would visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame first. Football isn’t my favorite sport, baseball is, but I still like watching games every so often and definitely enjoy the Super Bowl every year. The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum may surprise you though because there is a dinosaur exhibit and much more cool stuff that awaits you.

Now let’s step up the fun a bit more even by taking you to the Classic Car Museum. Who wouldn’t have fun looking at classic cars that are in mint condition and great representations of years gone by? There are even vehicles from the 1920’s there, and most people that review this place on travel sites give it a great rating. What else would you like to do while you’re in Canton?

I’m going to come up with a good one here, so the next attraction is the Gervassi Vineyard, and you are in store for a tour of the winery. Naturally, this is going to include a wine tasting event, and that can set up your evening at one of the fine restaurants that Canton, Ohio has to offer. Another unique attraction in Canton is the Canton Palace Theater.

By the way, if you’re wanting to get a good idea of the local cuisine that is served up at different restaurants in the city of Canton, there is a Canton Food Tour that you can take. You can also visit the National First Ladies Library, the downtown district, which is full of culture and arts, and then there is the Canton Museum of Art as well.

A favorite attraction for the kids aside from many of the ones already mentioned is Sippo Lake Park, which offers The Exploration Gateway. If you want to check out a mall type atmosphere, then there is the Belden Village Mall. For the people that like nightlife, there are at least 12 bars and clubs in the area. There is plenty to do in Canton, Ohio.

Which Top Pittsburgh Attractions Are Going To Make Your List?

The former pastor at the church I used to attend in Texas was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He would talk about Pittsburgh, and I would talk about St. Louis. While my sports affiliation lies with St. Louis, I know well enough that Pittsburgh is also a very interesting city to explore. What would you think about doing first if you were heading to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania?

Since I’m a baseball fan, my first stop would have to be PNC Park. This baseball field is one of the top Pittsburgh attractions, so you might want to put it on your to do list. Catching a Pirates game can be a fun family time or a piece of Americana for any tourist in Pittsburgh. Plus, you’ll be in downtown Pittsburgh to catch a good meal somewhere. A big city like Pittsburgh is going to have plenty of restaurants.

Mount Washington is one of the top attractions in the city as well, and one of the main reasons is because of the picture taking opportunity with the view that you’re going to get from the top. According to the reviews, the popular way to get there is by taking what is called the incline. You’re going to be privy to some great eats along the way, evidently some great seafood by the way, and one reviewer mentioned going there numerous times, always getting ice cream.

Phipps Conservatory is another great attraction in Pittsburgh. One of the reviewers mentions an Orchid Room, and that is definitely one of the exhibits I’d like to see. You can tell with this example what you’re going to find here, and it is a very popular place for tourists. It’s the best botanical garden experience in Pittsburgh.

What should be your next stop? There are so many attractions in Pittsburgh that it can be hard to decide to do what’s next. What’s the best advice? Pick one and keep on going, one at a time. Pack as much fun as you can get in during your vacation in Pittsburgh.

For your next stop, maybe you’ll visit the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, or maybe you think Bicycle Heaven sounds unique and very interesting. Don’t forget to visit The Strip, as that could be a place where you spend tons of time. Get ready to enjoy all of what Pittsburgh has to offer, which might take a few months!

Visit The Many Great Attractions Cleveland OH Has To Offer

Much of what I know about Cleveland comes from television. There is the Cleveland Indians baseball team, and then I remember the Drew Carey show was shot in Cleveland. Hot in Cleveland was another show that was based in the city, and I’m sure there are more. Of course, sitcoms and baseball teams don’t hold a candle to actually visiting Cleveland, Ohio. Are you ready to see what some of the top attractions are in Cleveland?

One unique stop you need to make is the West Side Market. You can combine your trip here with a picnic in the park because the West Side Market is the perfect place to pick up food for a picnic. It’s also the perfect place to pick up food to cook a meal, but who wants to do that while you’re on vacation? They have candy, too. Plus, you’re going to pick up a little Pittsburgh culture while you’re there.

Have you heard of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Maybe you didn’t know it was in Cleveland, Ohio, but it is indeed? I know this would be on my itinerary if I was planning a vacation to Cleveland. It’s on the list of the top 10 attractions in Cleveland, as I’m sure you can imagine. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is on the lake, which is a nice extra when it comes to your travels.

If you’re wanting to make a historical landmark stop along the way, you can visit the James A. Garfield Monument. If you need more than one stop for your history fix, then you can stop on by the Crawford Auto & Aviation Museum. Now let’s step away from the history of Cleveland and get down to more even exciting stuff.

How about a visit to the Great Lakes Brewing Company? Or, if you’re wanting to do something related to the history of Cleveland still, yet you want to have a ton of fun and stay away from museums and monuments for awhile, then you can tour Historic Little Italy. I’m sure you’ve deduced this is going to be the hot spot for Italian food.

There is also the Great Lakes Science Center and the Cleveland Public Library. If it’s nature you want a piece of, check out the North Chagrin Reservation and Edgewater Park. You’ll have a lot of fun exploring Cleveland with these tips as your guide.

How To Plan A Relaxing Fishing Trip To An Exotic Location

There’s nothing quite as enjoyable as sitting back, relaxing, and waiting for your lure to haul in your next catch. Fishing is one of the most popular pastimes that men of all ages enjoy, and it doesn’t matter whether you have thousands of dollars worth of high-end equipment or a make-do fishing rod because you can still go home feeling like a winner at the end of the day. The experience of fishing in an exotic location is one that can’t be beat!

There are so many great adventures to be had outdoors, but only if you’re looking to seize the day. Here are some things to take into consideration when planning your next fishing trip:

The Right Location

The first step is of course to find a location you’re interested in. Your budget does have an important role to play, so if you’re strapped for cash currently, you can still enjoy having fun at a nearby lake or river. However, if you have ample budget for travel, you can even make it to South America!

The Right Lodgings

During your trip, you will need a safe place to stay. You may not require all of the creature comforts out there, so investing in a basic motel room may be more than enough. If you’re going to be traveling within your state, perhaps renting an RV and camping outdoors may be more your style. There are plenty of options out there, and when all else fails, turn it into a camping trip that the entire family can enjoy.

Get Your Gear In Check

Of course, you’ll need a vessel for fishing – a kayak, canoe or boat. If you have your own small boat or canoe, you should by all means take it with you. However, all fishing destination hotspots will allow you to rent boats, so it’s important to factor the rental costs into your budget.

The next step is to equip yourself with the right gear. You will need fishing lures, bait, rods as well as appropriate seasonal clothing for the climate. If you’re going to be outdoors in the summer or early spring, make sure to put on plenty of sunscreen to protect your skin in the sun.

Lastly, many places require fishing permits and licensing in order to fish outdoors. Make sure you secure permission before you get into trouble for trespassing!
